Mr. Lawrence was my teacher. But, very sadly he had to return home to India :( . Well, he has no choice because he really misses his family. He has a wife and a 2-year-old son. And, besides, he has been working here for 7 years! Cool 8) ! And………he was a very awesome teacher who sometimes make jokes. 4 Terra is really sad :( because Mr. Lawrence is leaving. He has thought us a lot of thing that we don’t really know. We will all miss him. BYE MR. LAWRENCE!

Never post ads

•July 26, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Never post advertisements, fliers and commercials. If you want to make either of them we have to do it in a descent way because other people are watching it. We cannot do commercials about drugs and smoking. We can do commercials such as shampoos or watches. For example; a movie. We must always have a small sign for people to see before they go to the cinema to watch the particular movie. That sign is called the age-limit. One of these signs is a ‘U’ which stands for all ages can watch. There is always an age limit in movies and website. Take friendster for instance, it has an age limit. The age limit is 18+ which means 18 and over. If you want to post a movie flier, always mention the age limit.Otherwise, people will complain to you by mail because it is not appropriate for them to watch. That is why we must be careful if we post a flier, commercial or advertisement.

Net-language: A dictionary

In those middle-ages(olden days), the folks there didn’t no what was Internet and Internet had not even existed.Instead, the people use post. Post as in put in the mailbox and let the postman come and pick it up to send it to the post office. But, in those days, there were actually no post office. The post gets delivered straight away. They don’t send it to the post office where it gets stamped and send. Now in the present we send it to the post office. It is very much better then getting it from everyones house and trying to check everyone’s post box to see if they want mail to be sent to someone. And then the post man has to find the person’s house address. Now, in the present some many ways have benn change. They use short forms as it saves time when we write. Here are some of the short forms that are used; A.F.A.I.K. means as far as i know. CYA means see ya. Gr8 means great. BBL means be back later.OIC means oh i see! BTW means by the way. IOW means in other ways. BFN means bye for now.SOL means sooner or later. POV means point of view.

Flame Throwers

•July 19, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Flame throwers means that someone write something bad about their own self and then they put it on online websites. But, some people cannot be able to stand it. The person’s account will be freezed and they might be able to use that website. The website will block the person into making a new account. The website will ban the person from making a new account. Writing bad things about your self is called personal-abuse. This means that no one abuses you, you abuse your own self. When you call your self the bad words or call your own self names it is also known as flame war. If anyone calls you the bad word or call you names you must report so their account will be freezed and will be baned to make another account in the particular website. These days, people are getting baned from some websites.

Smilies and Emoticons

•July 12, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Smilies and emoticons are some icons which expresses your feelings. People use them for saving time. There is no need to write so much on how you feel today just some emoticons and smilies is the trick. So many smiles and emoticons have their meanings. People will get bored if you type out your feelings completely. Smilies and emoticons helps describe what your feelings are as well as the situation you are in now. Nowadays people use smilies and emoticons as they might feel that typing is for a waste of time. As already mentioned, smilies and emoticons have meanings in them, for example: :-) stands for smiling, :-D stands for laughing, :-O stands for shocked, :-@ stands for screaming, :-P stands for sticking tongue out, {} stands for hugging, O:-) stands for angel, }:-> stands for devil, ;-) stands for winking. On online websites, smilies and emoticons are extremely common. But, sometimes we have to report abuse the fact that smilies are there. We cannot use smilies too much.

Post Positively

•July 12, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Post with confidence. Always have a positive point about a subject. No negative points as they can hurt the person’s feelings and they may get angry. Always have positive points about the person and then the person will really thank you. For example, you want to converse somebody who runs a famous place. The person tells you how he/she runs the place. Don’t take note about things that the person hasn’t said. We should not write anything negative about this person. We must give positive comments about the particular person. We cannot insult others behind their backs. It is always wrong to do that. We can never say that someone is crazy or dumb. Being happy spreads your friendship. We should not have bad thoughts on our minds for they can be big trouble. Act like a gentleman or ladies. Always be happy no matter what happens. Being polite is one of our simple rules in daily life.

Ettiquette

•June 28, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Etiquette lets us be polite on the Internet. We have strict rules of being polite on the Internet. The most important ones are;

1)’Be tactful’:To approach a mentally handicap person in a clever manner. Find out what they are interested. Keep the topic on favourite things. For boys ask for his favourite football team or his favourite sports. For a girl ask her what her favourite food is or maybe you can ask her what she normally does during her free time.Don’t ask things like how old are you and where do you come from. The person can be very suspicious.

2) ‘Bite your tongue’: to watch the words that you say. Never mention the bad words. We must be careful especially while talking online. In some online games like ‘Runescape’ people sometimes say the bad words and then they will get reported of abuse. Never say the bad words to anybody.Even if someone insulted you, just don’t mention or answer back.

3)’Don’t use uppercase’ : Don’t use capitals in mails or online websites. Some people consider this rude. Only use the capital letters in the beginning of the sentence. Some people gets too sensitive and starts to report and then who knows what will happen? Some online websites can freeze the person who said the bad word’s account. We must be careful.

4)’Mind your language’: This means to never talk to people in a rude way.Unless you’ve known the person for an extremely long time or if the person doesn’t mind. Never say the bad words to older people since it will be considered as no respect for the eldest. If a person calls u the ‘f’ word don’t answer back and straight away report.

5) ‘Watch your words’: Never mention the bad words to anybody. We may hurt the persons feelings if we mention the bad words to them. We can never say the bad words to people which we have just met. Only to people we’ve known for a long time or since childhood. For example, you insulted somebody and then the person said that he/she will get revenge. Thats why we say to watch your words.

6) Respect confidently : Don’t post e-mail you have received from someone else without his/her concern. Apart from being rude, illegal bridges confidence. If you don’t know the person who sent the mail to you don’t reply back and just delete it. You are only allowed to reply to people you know. But, never reply to someone you don’t know because it is very dangerous.

7) Keep it simple: Don’t be so detail. For example, you want to write a biodata in your blog, never write too much things about yourself. Don’t put in difficult words. Try to use simple language that can be understood by others. Same goes to e-mail. Avoid using too many smilies. Smilies are icons to express more on your feelings. Also just write three till five sentences on a topic will do. Language is also important because some people can understand and some can’t. English is the most common language. So, when writing a mail always use English as its language. Never write a mail to someone in a different language. Keep mails short and simple.

8) Don’t be a grammar pedant: Don’t mind about other people’s grammar so much. Sometime people make mistakes and some are very careful with their grammar. Some people are very careful that they can spot a grammar error and straight away complain. Normally, there is a grammar error icon in e-mails as well as blogs. Use the icon after you write a page or post(for blogs) and compose a new mail(e-mail) Try to improve your English for the person to at least understand what you are trying to say. Some people take this seriously and it might be possible to be able to hurt their feelings.

9) Use plain text: Don’t use html text. Html text is actually another word for short form. Although some people can understand html, it is best not to use it. Instead, you should use plain text. Everyone understands plain text more then html. Only very few people understand html. So, its best not to use html to people. But, unlike some online games, they may allow html, either ecause they allow or either because they only accept that language. Actually, some people like to use html for messaging. Html has is own language. For example; message becomes msg, house becomes hse and too becomes 2.

10) Warn if might spoilt a surprise: You can warn people about something before they even know it yet. For example; a football match or a horse race. You know who is going to win and who is not going to win before anyone even knows or finds out just yet. Actually, telling someone who wins and who doesn’t helps a lot to people who bet. It helps the person from losing money but it helps the person to gain money. This helps a lot and may mean a lot to the person. But, if you are not sure, then don’t make any warnings that probably aren’t true because it might get the person angry and you might get in trouble.

My favourite teacher

•May 17, 2007 • Leave a Comment

My favourite teacher is Ms. Fynn. She is a cool teacher. She teaches me Speech and Drama. I always email her and talk to her, just asking how is she. She has a pet snake called Bobby. Bobby is actually a small snake which could not harm anyone just yet. Bobby is tame and he is very nice. I touched him once. Ms. Fynn has a good sense of fashion(no offense, but it is true!!). Why do i say i like Ms. Fynn?? Because she is cool, smart and kind.
